Being in limbo between being a child and an adult is a time of anguish and pain. It is the moment where you renounce one identity to find another, you are born a second time and you simply stop “existing” to live as an individual. In that moment full of questions, living in constant anguish for many is the answer. Unlike other generations such as Generation X or Millennials, Generation Z does not see this as a disorder, rather as a trait of their character and collective identity. They stop understanding what it means to be sad for a few days and it translates for them into a lifestyle where ceasing to be a functional person is well regarded.

The romanticization of mental illness then becomes a new cultural phenomenon. The fact of fetishizing disorders and posting it on social networks such as Instagram or Tik Tok is proof of this event. Now, the internet as part of us further exposes the problem by giving positive connotations to issues that should not have them. In the eyes of Generation Z, the world loves a person who hurts, however, this limbo called by many “Teenage Angst” is something we must all go through, what’s more, teenage angst is not just teenagers, the world tells us places in constant change where we are searching for answers and questioning who we are, moments full of insecurity and the need to find our place in the world.
